Past Attempts I

Since I haven't had the time to begin with experiments, or at least of the chocolate persuasion, I thought I could show a few of my past attempts.

This is probably one of my best cakes so far and, funnily enough, one of my first. Made back in 2004 for my mother's birthday, this was an orange ice cream bomb with a chocolate fondant to cover it all. I added a few plates of white and dark chocolate to decorate it as well as some rolls (I need to remember how to make those!) and raspberries, which is always delicious with chocolate (can you guess how often I've used that word in the last sentence?).

This was a double mousse cake; both dark and milk chocolate mousse. I believe the milk one was inserted into the dark one. The whole thing was covered by some chocolate fondant (once again) and decorated with more chocolate plates. They are usually quite easy to make and they enhance the appearance of the cake greatly. This was made for a friends' reunion during the summer of 2007.

It might not be the best looking one but it sure tastes great! Made for a whip cream lover, I used a recipe mixing a vanilla parfait and a strawberry ice cream. I'm afraid my current skills with whip cream are even worse than with chocolate. The latter saved the look of this cake although I have to admit I could have put more effort into it. This one dates from this summer.
